A reader lost her beloved pug and was feeling the loss that only another puggie can soothe.

She is based in Ohio, so Puggiez found an organization called Ohio Pug Rescue that will adopt its pugs exclusively to Ohioans.

Most rescue organizations post their available animals, then take applications for each one individually.  Ohio Pug Rescue does it quite differently:

The adoption process begins by sending an application form to adopt a Pug. Only fully completed forms will be considered and all applicants must be at least 18 years of age. When your application is received, you will be contacted by an OPR Volunteer to discuss your application and answer any questions you may have. Once you have completed the telephone interview, the information then goes to the Adoption Committee to match you with a Pug based on your request and situation. When that match is determined, you will be contacted by an Adoption Coordinator to tell you about the Pug. We follow up with an email providing detailed information and pictures of that Pug. If you are in agreement with the match, we set up a home visit.

The puggiez you see on their site are the ones who have already been adopted.  Pictures of adoptable pugs are sent to you only after you’ve been approved as an adopter.  One might worry, “but will my pug be cute enough?” However, judging by the picture of adorable Lo Mein, above, who was adopted through Ohio Pug Rescue, you needn’t worry.

You can also foster a pug through Ohio Pug Rescue, if you’d like to help temporarily house puggiez on their way to new homes.
